Preparation

Before the summer school begins, you should make some preparations.

Most importantly, you need a laptop with at least 8 GB RAM (more is better). If this is a problem for you, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we will find a solution.

Beyond that here are a bunch of things we strongly recommend you do before travelling.

• Join the Oscar slack (a multi user chat system), familiarize yourself with it, and there join the #summerschool channel
• Install git
• Register a GitHub account
• Install Oscar via our install instruction, or if you have it already installed, update to the latest Oscar version via our upgrade instruction.
• If you do not have a favorite programming editor with Julia syntax highlighting:
  • install Visual Studio Code
  • install the “Julia” plugin

On Thursday, 11 September 2025, we will offer a “virtual office hour” starting at 10:00. There we will be available to help you with any problems you may have with the above preparations. Details will be made available shortly before.
