What is OSCAR?

OSCAR (Open Source Computer Algebra Research) is designed to empower researchers with cutting-edge computations in algebra, geometry, and number theory. Written in Julia, it integrates powerful tools from diverse mathematical areas to tackle complex problems.

Updates and News:

• Version 1.5.0 Released!
  Highlights of this release include:
  • Official Support for Quadratic Forms: The feature "Quadratic forms and isometries" has graduated from experimental status to officially supported, enhancing capabilities for users working with quadratic forms.
  • For more details on the newest release, visit the GitHub Release or our website.
• New Database Framework:
  We have developed a new database framework with a MongoDB backend. Among the first collections is Frank Lutz's complete classification of vertex-transitive combinatorial manifolds on few vertices. This will become official in OSCAR v1.6. Learn more in Frank Lutz's Classification or some technical details in the Pull Request.
• OSCAR-Shop:
  We're thrilled to open the OSCAR-Shop - your place for exclusive OSCAR merchandise! For the first two weeks, all articles will be 25% off.

Papers Using OSCAR:

• Simon Brandhorst and Giacomo Mezzedimi have published Virtually abelian symmetry groups of hyperbolic lattices. They use OSCAR to formulate and implement an algorithm for weak approximation in orthogonal groups.
• The tutorial Irreducible representations of a finite abelian group over a finite field can be found at OSCAR Tutorials and will be mentioned in an upcoming paper in the International Journal of Algebra and Computation.
